Weekend Scenes

It's been a while. As you can see by the photos I have returned from Europe. I've been home for about a month and I'm already dreaming of another trip. Oh the joy of seeing different parts of the world! Time to start saving up again.

I'm getting back into the swing of things around here. I've just started to do a little sewing again and I'm almost always knitting. I can never seem to keep my hands still. So when I can I sit and I knit. I've also been doing a bit of baking, but not nearly enough. It's important that I bake often so that I don't lose the skills that I once worked so hard to attain whilst in school.

Below are a few snaps from this weekend. Life is good, God is great, and today my heart is full. I hope the same for you.

Castle Walk

Once again Xativa has treated me well. Perfect weather, the best people, and delightful food. Lately I've been doing a lot of eating, drinking (loads of tinto de Verano and cafe), and napping. I'm on vacation so this is acceptable, right?! It's funny back home I never take naps. But here in Spain it's a must. If I miss a siesta I don't seem to function quite right. Oh the Spanish life! So very different then my own. I must say I have also been doing quite a lot of walking and hiking. Today I made the trek up to the city's castle. It's a really beauty. It blows me a way to see such an old fortress still standing. It really was built to last. As always I snapped photos.
I just realized I didn't get any good photos of the castle itself. I was mostly shooting from the top down. Hopefully I can snap some tomorrow before I leave for Barcelona! I hope to be back with BCN photos Thursday!

XATIVA SCENES

After a busy few weeks it was nice to have a relaxing day in Spain. I arrived in Xativa yesterday afternoon after a long morning of travel. I took a taxi to the train station, a train to the airport, a flight to Valencia, the metro to EstaciĆ³ del Nord, a train to Xativa, and then I walked to my dear friends home! They welcomed me with delicious meal and a siesta. Just what I needed. In the morning we sat and ate together and then I wandered around the city for a bit. Came home ate again and then another siesta. Nice and simple. Life is good. God is good!
. I'm off to bed now. Sending lots of love to those dear to me. xo

Hampstead Heath

Another swell day in the UK. I spent the morning at the Heath. I used to love going to visit it when I did a semester of study abroad here. It's such a peaceful and lovely place to sit in or walk around. I'll post more about my day later but for now I must go to bed. I was suppose to take it easy today but I most definitely did not. Now my body is paying for it. I figure i'll rest when I leave London. As for now I must take advantage of every second I am here.

Exhausted

It's been non stop exploring since I left for Europe a week ago. I must say I am absolutely exhausted. Gosh I want to see it all but I know there is not nearly enough time. Oh well. I'll just have to get over that. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to take it easy. Will see how that goes though. London is so special to me that thought of missing a favorite spot makes me quite sad. It's been 5 years since I've last been in the city and I don't know when I'll be here again. I sure hope I don't go another 5 year stretch with out coming back…

As for today I spent the morning at my favorite museum, The V & A. After I went to Sketch for Afternoon Tea. This quirky tea room was quite the experience. The food was delightful and the art was enjoyable. Oh and the restrooms were pretty interesting too. See photo with egg shaped pods. Yes those are bathroom stalls. Then I headed to another favorite spot, Loop. It's the most charming yarn shop. I was so excited when I came across it 5 years ago when I did my semester abroad. It's got such a cozy feel! After that it was time to visit Tate Modern. I browsed for a few hours and then went on the hunt for food. Didn't get many photos at the museum because my phone was going to die.
The photos below I snapped well walking to the museum. It was after five on a friday evening so of course all the pubs were packed. England, you are a real treat.
I'm not sure if I have mentioned it here yet but the weather has been phenomenal for the entirety of my trip. Sunny and cool highs around 65 degrees. I mean it's been dreamy. I sure wasn't expecting it.

Copenhagen Scenes

Hello friends! I'm in London now but I wanted to share a few more photos from day in Copenhagen. I spent yesterday and this morning walking around the city before I had to catch my flight to the UK. I had a few great meals and enjoyed a beautiful view of the CPH from an old tower.I'm far too tired to write more now but please enjoy the photos.
Looking forward to visiting some of my favorite spots in London tomorrow. xo -esther

COPENHAGEN VIA IPHONE

My day consisted of 3 museum visits, 1 canal tour, and over 12 miles of walking. It was a good day. Copenhagen is a pretty easy city to navigate so I haven't had problems getting to where I want to go. I took loads of photos to share. First I went to Arbejdermuseet. A museum all about the labor force in Copenhagen through out the 20th century. It was very interesting to see historical homes that didn't belong to the royals are the wealthy. I enjoyed it very much.
Snapped a few photos during my long walk to the next museum.
Next I went to Designmuseum Danmark. The museum grounds were stunning. The courtyard was my favorite.
They had an exhibit on clothing and textiles so I was pretty excited.
After that I headed to the Canal Tour. It was so windy and cold I could hardly stand it. This California girl does not have the right cold weather gear... but it was a great way to see the city by water.
Then I headed to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. It may be my favorite museum yet. The building and location were absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend it to anyone planning on visiting Copenhagen.
Well this is a bit embarrassing. I rarely ever take selfies because it just feels so awkward but I couldn't help but snap these at a couple of the museums I went to.
I better get some rest as I have much planned for tomorrow. There is so much to see and do here. I sure hope I can squeeze it all in.

Copenhagen

A few photos from my evening stroll in the city. After a long 11 hour flight I arrived in Denmark around 4pm. Grabbed my luggage and quickly made my way to the hostel. After I checked in I immediately went for a walk. Gosh those old buildings and cobblestone roads still bring a great deal of excitement. So happy i get to explore a new city/culture. Looking forward to visiting many museums tomorrow. I'll be back with more photos then. For now I will try and conquer this jet lag. It's 2 PM California time and 11 PM in Copenhagen. Time to force my body to actually try and sleep. Luckily I'm exhausted but I'm pretty sure my brain is going to think I'm just taking a nap. Will see how this goes… Night!
