Knitting Lately

I spent most of the day working with my hands. Blocking, Knitting, and Pom Pom making. I have gifts that need to be made and bonnets that I need to finish for my shop. My hope is to have them listed by tomorrow. As Christmas quickly approaches I'm worried about not completing gifts in time. Thats the thing about knitting. Sometimes you have to start working on holiday gifts in August to have them finished by December! I tried to capture all the different textures and colors of the knits above, hence the up close photos. I love the unlimited possibilities knitting allows you. Isn't it great?

Thanksgiving

My heart is full. Yet another lovely Thanksgiving with those I hold near and dear. I spent my day prepping the house with my mom for our delicious feast. Like last year I contributed Challah bread. It's becoming a thanksgiving tradition which I don't mind one bit. I think it's the prettiest bread there is. I mean you really can't go wrong with a braided loaf. This year I made 4, 5, and 6 strand braids (pictured below).

On another note, the weather was quite warm today. We had a high of 90 degrees! I have a love/hate relationship with LA weather. We have so many warm sun filled days that it always has me craving cooler weather. I mean I'm quite grateful for the beautiful weather but sometimes you just need a nice long break from it. At least enough time for me to start to miss it and start to appreciate it again. With that being said we spent a bit of time hanging out in the front yard before our feast. My cousin Jackie (pictured in the second to last photo) was gifted the same camera I have for her birthday. I started to teach her a few things and she snapped the photos on the bottom of the page. Well I hope everyone had a lovely day celebrating Thanksgiving!

Tuesday

Spent part of my day working on knits for the shop. I ended up giving the bonnets Iv'e been knitting a nice soak in a eucalan wash. I added some lavender oil to the wash for a lovely scent and it's moth repelling abilities. Now I am waiting for them to dry so I can properly photograph them for the shop.

I also spent some time working on organizing nearly done knits. It seems that the moment I cast off on a project I immediately begin a new one. This results in sweaters with out buttons, bonnets without ties, and pants without drawstrings. But I am determined to finish these projects now. I'm sure i'm not the only one who does this, right?

Sunday

Spent the morning at church and the rest of the day tidying up a messy room and doing a bit of knitting. I've been working on making my own, very simple, knitting patterns. It's been quite challenging but very rewarding. If anyone has any recommendations for books about designing knitwear please do share. The last photos are of some recent finished projects. I am so happy with my Sibella Sweater. Ive already got a chance to wear it a couple times. It's so soft and comfortable. I'll need to have someone snap a photo of me in it soon. Well I hope everyone has a great week. I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving! xo -es
