Blooming Stitch Shawl

I hadn't knitted lace in a long time so it was really nice to make something so delicate and precious. The blocking of this knit was a bit intense but overall I'm very pleased with it. not my average knit

I purchased this vibrant skein of yarn a couple of months ago from a wonderful new local yarn shop. It's definitely not my usual color choice. I often stick to more neutral and muted tones. But this particular skein of yarn is going to be used to make at hat for a dear friend who loves bright neon colors. I've actually really enjoyed knitting with the colorful yarn. All the variation in color makes the simple garter stitch quite exciting. Making this hat with any other skein in my stash would have been rather tedious.

Knitting Lately

I spent most of the day working with my hands. Blocking, Knitting, and Pom Pom making. I have gifts that need to be made and bonnets that I need to finish for my shop. My hope is to have them listed by tomorrow. As Christmas quickly approaches I'm worried about not completing gifts in time. Thats the thing about knitting. Sometimes you have to start working on holiday gifts in August to have them finished by December! I tried to capture all the different textures and colors of the knits above, hence the up close photos. I love the unlimited possibilities knitting allows you. Isn't it great?

Tuesday

Spent part of my day working on knits for the shop. I ended up giving the bonnets Iv'e been knitting a nice soak in a eucalan wash. I added some lavender oil to the wash for a lovely scent and it's moth repelling abilities. Now I am waiting for them to dry so I can properly photograph them for the shop.

I also spent some time working on organizing nearly done knits. It seems that the moment I cast off on a project I immediately begin a new one. This results in sweaters with out buttons, bonnets without ties, and pants without drawstrings. But I am determined to finish these projects now. I'm sure i'm not the only one who does this, right?

Such a lovely list isn't it? A bit of everything- yarn, magazines, books, patterns and tools. You really can't go wrong. I would love to try and knit the Ondawa sweater. Isn't it stunning? It certainly looks like a time consuming and challenging project but so enjoyable. I do always like a good challenge. Oh and the Woolfolk yarn is simply stunning. I can't wait to get my hands on some. What's on your knitting wishlist?
